Together, Resideo and Brilliant recognized a growing problem in the home technology industry — the more connected devices people installed in their home, the harder it became to actually use and control their home. Consumers really liked the idea of living in a smart and secure home, but the industry was failing to deliver the kind of experience that mainstream consumers needed: a simple, unified, elegant, and affordable way to control everything, and a solution that also offers flexibility and choice. 

Before the launch of Resideo and Brilliant’s integrated platform earlier this year, security and smart home systems had always been siloed ecosystems offering few if any integrations with popular smart home brands and products like cameras, locks, thermostats, garage openers, window shades, sound systems, voice assistants, intercom systems, sensors and more.

To fix this broken experience, Resideo and Brilliant teamed up to set a new industry standard for what a next generation smart and secure home can and should be. Launched this past March at ISC West (the largest security trade show in North America), the new integrated offering from Resideo + Brilliant brings together the best of home security and smart home into one easy-to-use home control solution. Since releasing our integration with Resideo’s Total Connect 2.0 security platform, Brilliant and Resideo have released numerous software updates to improve our solution for builders and consumers. As of today, these are some of the security experiences you can now access and control using Brilliant Controls on your wall and the Brilliant mobile app:

• Arm and disarm your Resideo Total Connect 2.0 alarm system
• Add a security widget on the lock screen of any Brilliant Control for quick disarming
• See what security zones are not secure and have open windows and doors
• View Resideo and Honeywell Home security cameras and talk via 2-way audio 
• Receive life safety statuses and fire, carbon monoxide, and medical alarms
• Control the Z-wave devices connected to your security system, including locks, thermostats, light switches, light bulbs, and plugs
• Create smart home scenes and automations that include security actions in combination with all of the devices that Brilliant works with

In just a few short months, we’re already seeing our joint smart home + security offering resonate with prominent homebuilders. Two of the latest to adopt it as a standard are Elliott Homes and Woodside Homes.

Co-Branded Offering at ADI Global Distribution

ADI is the leading global wholesale distributor of security, AV, and low-voltage products and the go-to product source for Resideo security and HVAC/comfort dealers. We recently unveiled new co-branded packaging at ADI branches in North America to help promote the idea that Resideo security systems can be exponentially enhanced by adding a Brilliant Smart Home System. This new co-branded look helps underscore that Brilliant represents a bold new smart home frontier that Resideo dealers can now extend to their customers.

Events, Demos & Storytelling

We first announced our new integrated security and smart home solution at ISC West this past March, where we debuted our first live demo of a Brilliant Smart Home System integrated with a Total Connect 2.0 security system. This milestone represented an important first step in our shared journey to bring a more user-friendly experience to the worlds of smart home and security. A few months later at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) in San Francisco, we again teamed up to educate homebuilders about the virtues of installing flexible and integrated smart home and security systems.
